In February 2014, Reading businesses voted overwhelmingly to renew the Reading Business Improvement District. Reading UK CIC was the proposer for the renewal of the BID 2014-19 and, in partnership with member businesses, will manage Reading BID for a further five years, from 1 April 2014.
Steve Belam, Chair of Reading UK CIC and General Manager of The Oracle shopping centre, said: “Reading businesses have recognised the value that the BID has brought to Reading over the past nine years. They have voted overwhelmingly to continue investing in the town centre which will ensure Reading retains its position as a great place to live, visit, work and do business."
81% of businesses voted in favour of the BID renewal proposal and 83% of the aggregate rateable value was also cast in favour. Read the formal result.
The Reading BID 2014-19 renewal proposal details the services and funding that will ensure Reading town centre is more secure, connected and attractive. The renewed BID will also deliver a dedicated programme to support the night-time economy in Reading and will drive increased business to all sectors of the town centre economy.
