Reading Business Improvement District (BID) is sponsoring Promotional initiative of the year, one of 13 awards that comprise the 2017 Reading Retail Awards.
The Reading Retail Awards were established by The Event Crew supported by both The Oracle and Broad Street Mall shopping centres. This year celebrates the 8th year of its success which sees over 900 retailers, restaurants and out of town venues participating and many many more customers from around the area voting!
The awards are free to enter and have been designed to recognise and reward outstanding retailing and dining in the borough of Reading.
The nominations for last year’s awards numbered over 4,000 from the public and retailers for the 13 categories, this is a clear indicator that Reading is just the place to be identifying and celebrating the best examples of trading practice and the all-important customer service experience.
The Retail industry cannot ignore the changes that are happening in retail. Multi-channel shopping is here to stay and the physical act of shopping has a very different part to play in this environment. This point is recognised in 2017 with the introduction of 2 new categories: Innovation in the marketplace & Sustainability in retail.
Back this year are our hugely popular categories for customer nominated awards, which include ‘Cafes coffee and lunch’, ‘Your favourite shop, ‘Service with a smile’ and ‘Restaurant of the year’. Then we have the business section where retailers, cafes, restaurants and the like are encouraged to nominate themselves for the service and products they deliver or to recognise team members that are going above and beyond their everyday role to enhance the overall customer experience.
These awards are intended to encompass all retail businesses across our communities, as well as out of town retail parks and virtual stores. Large or small we welcome entries from them all.
The nomination process is simple and open until the 10th July. Entry forms can be collected from the information desks in either The Oracle or The Broad Street Mall and they will be hand delivered to as many retailers, cafes, restaurants and venues as possible. Nominations can also be made online at www.ReadingRetailAwards.co.uk
The culmination of the next few months will be our glittering black tie awards evening which this year is on Saturday 16th September at the Hilton Hotel., Reading.
