Residential investment

Reading is continuing to attract considerable residential investment with the £900 million investment in the station, Crossrail and buoyant economy, making Reading increasingly attractive as a place to live and work.

In the town centre

Muse Development’s mixed use development (now complete) has extended Reading’s high street to the west.  

Kings Mead

Bellway Homes and Danescroft Commercial Development ltd are developing 192 new homes in the town centre on a former industrial site alongside the railway. 

The Foundry

Crossmark have plans to develop 429 residential units on a former retail site in the town centre. It is scheduled to go to planning in summer 2017.

L&Q Developments - Kenavon Drive

A riverside residential development on the site of a current retail park, opposite the former Reading prison. 700-800 units would be developed on the Kennet-side site.

Kings Point

CNM Developments have started work on a new scheme which will create 109 homes in 7-19 storey-buildings on the site of a former office block on King's Road.

Former Norwich Union Building

Titan Property Developments have plans for a 23-storey residential tower on the site of the former Norwich Union building close to Reading Station.

London Road frontage

Thomas Homes are creating 53 dwellings in the listed frontage buildings on the University of Reading's London Road campus. 

 

Wider Reading

Bewley Park

Just 10 minutes walk to the town centre, Bewley Homes have completed a mix of 63 houses and apartments in a conversion of the site of the former Bath Road old Thames Water reservoir site.

Kennet Island

A ten-minute direct bus ride into the town centre along the A33 and close to Green Park Business Park, St James have released more phases of this large development. 

Green Park Village 

Set in 60 acres opposite Green Park business Park in south Reading,  Berkeley Homes are building 737 new homes in a lakeside location. Phase one is under construction

The future

Station Hill

Up to 300 apartments are scheduled to be built as part of this major town centre mixed-use development by Stanhope. Planning permission has been achieved for the development between Reading station and Friar Street.
