Reading is a remarkably rewarding place to live

Unfortunately a lot of people don't know what they are talking about when they talk about Reading.... 

Which is very sad, because the preconceived ideas of the town that most people have is, to be honest, not all that good.  

So when you actually visit you'll be in for something of a surprise.  And we can honestly say that we've yet to meet anyone who has moved here to live, or study, or to set up a business who hasn't been completely won over. 

We are not a modern town, but we do have a lot of striking modern architecture.  We are not a quaint little market town, but we do have two rivers flowing through our centre (not to mention the ruins of a medieval abbey).  No one thinks of Reading as especially cultured - but our home grown talent includes Kate Winslet, Kenneth Branagh, Ricky Gervais and Sam Mendes.  The list goes on...we're a town of opportunity, but we respect our heritage, and that creates a special place to live and do business.
