River of Creativity - parade along Broad Street in Reading

Saturday July 8th, 12.30 pm (parade starts)

The River of Creativity is a project created by the Rising Sun Arts Centre which will see a 6 meter long paddle boat sailing through the centre of Reading on Saturday the 8th of July.

The boat (which is on wheels) has been built by volunteers at The Rising Sun Arts Centre and will sail along Broad StreetLeafletbackcover web on a fabric river full of fish made by The Move Up Project a creative activities project for people with learning disabilities.

The Project also includes a performance from young people as part of their National Citizenship Service, singing from pupils of Alder Bridge Steiner Waldorf School, dance co-ordinated by Reside Dance Company, poetry from My Word Poets and culminates in a short theatre piece for children from Thee O theatre Group based on scenes from Wind in the Willows.

The project is funded by Reading Business Improvement District (BID) as part of the ARENA arts grants scheme and is part of the town’s build up to its first ever Thames side festival in September this year.

The River of Creativity will be a spectacular event full of movement and colour bringing the river to the heart of Reading and filling the town with arts and creativity. The parade leaves from the western (Oxford Rd) end of Broad Street at 12.30.

The River of Creativity will be in Broad Street on Saturday the 8th of July and is funded by Reading Business Improvement District (BID) as part of the 2017 ARENA programme of Reading town centre arts and cultural events.
