CHOW celebrates one year anniversary by launching new Tuesday food market

Reading's Friday street food market, CHOW, is celebrating a successful first year in Market Place by announcing a new Tuesday street food market, starting on Tuesday 10 May.

CHOW was launched in April 2015 by Reading UK CIC and is operated by Southern Market Traders (SMT). It has been hugely popular with people working and visiting the town centre in its first twelve months, serving up an enticing mix of tempting hot dishes from around the world every Friday. It will now operate two days a week from 10 May.

The new Tuesday CHOW will see some of the most popular street food stalls from Friday returning as well as lots of new hot and cold food stalls to try.  Regular stalls returning include Sharian Kitchen’s jerk chicken stall, Momo’s dumplings, Smokey Board’s hot salmon dishes, Abby White’s home-made cakes and the New Forest Butcher. They will be joined by a selection of new hot and cold food stalls including artisan bread, Indian and Thai street food and a fresh fruit and veg stall.

Yulia Syrovoiskaia, Events Executive, Reading UK CIC said: “We are delighted that CHOW has been such a hit on Fridays over the last 12 months, creating a new destination for those who work in the town centre and bringing the Market Place to life. Tuesday CHOW will follow the same successful formula, mixing up some of Friday’s favourites with new cuisines and food stalls to try.”

Since April 2015, CHOW has been providing Reading residents, workers and visitors with a wide range of new tastes spanning the four corners of the globe, from Mexican tacos and Caribbean jerk chicken to Greek style wraps, Spanish Paella, Pie and Mash, noodles, gourmet burgers and falafel, Georgian cuisine and much more.

CHOW Tuesday will be operated by Southern Market Traders (SMT). Paul Lewis of SMT, said: “CHOW Tuesday will be all about providing more choice for workers and visitors to Reading town centre, complementing the town centre’s existing food retailers by creating a vibe around a high-quality street food lunch offer.”

CHOW on Tuesday will open on Tuesday 10 May and operate in Market Place between 9am and 4pm every Tuesday. CHOW will also continue to run on Fridays at the same time.
