HM Queen opens new Reading Station

Her Majesty The Queen formally opened the new Reading Station on Thursday 17 July.Queen Reading opening_web.JPG

A £900 million investment in Reading Station has transformed the gateway link to London and
unlocked a new wave of investment in Reading town centre.

The scheme has created five new platforms, a new passenger footbridge and two new station entrances linked to a new bus terminal. All platforms at the station have been lengthened to create room for longer trains and enhanced with new canopies, better waiting room facilities, customer toilets and retail outlets.

The project started in November 2010 with the new station reopening in spring 2013. The Reading Station Improvement Project is due to be completed by summer 2015. Non-stopping trains link Reading to London Paddington in less than half an hour.

Major investment in office space

The impact of the investment has unlocked major investment in premium office space in Reading town centre. Over two million square feet of Grade A office space schemes have either recently been completed, are currently under construction or are planned to start this year to take advantage of the excellent connectivity with London and many other destinations.
