RDNGTWNCNTR BLADE 240609Over 100 highly skilled jobs will be coming to Reading thanks to major trade body choosing the town as its headquarters.

The new Trade Remedies Authority will be established in Reading with the aim of establishing a new body to defend UK businesses from unfair trade.

The Department for International Trade began recruiting dozens of new roles for the TRA this week, from junior trade investigators to economic and legal advisors and board-level roles including CEO. Potential candidates can apply at: www.tracareers.co.uk or www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk

In future the Trade Remedies Authority based in Reading, will make recommendations specifically for the UK, affecting thousands of jobs across manufacturing to other sectors covering billions of pounds worth of imports.

The decision on where in Reading the offices will be located is being finalised, and will be set up by the time the UK leaves the EU at the end of March 2019.

Trade Minister Greg Hands, said: “I know that you will have been delighted to hear that the TRA will be bringing many more high-quality jobs to Reading and the surrounding area.

“I hope that you will support me in promoting the establishment of this body and that you will join me in promoting Reading as an excellent place in which to work and build a career.”

Welcoming the potential the opportunity presents for Reading, he commented further: “With it’s university, vibrant business community and great transport links – Reading is a very good place for this hugely important organisation, taking back powers from the EU that will support businesses across the UK.

“I’m confident the great talent pool in Reading will ensure the TRA can really hit the ground and become an integral part of our independent UK trade policy once we leave the EU.”
