Thames Valley Tech Awards 2018


Often referred to as the UK’s Silicon Valley, the Thames Valley is an area of technological and economic significance to the UK with Reading at its centre. Reading’s IT businesses stole the show at the inaugural Thames Valley Tech Awards.

The first event of its kind, the Awards celebrated the finest of the region’s technological sector in a glamorous eveningTVTA Ultima at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre.

Companies from Reading saw their share of the success at the awards highlighting what a fantastic location Reading is to establish a technology-driven company or find experienced and skilled workers in the sector.


Ultima Business Solutions won first place in the Innovative Tech Company and Thames Valley Tech Company categories. Lein Applied Diagnostics and Volume also won first place in the Science and Technology Award and Tech Employer of the Year Award categories respectively.

Runner Ups:

Cloud Factory UK (Emerging Tech Company and International Tech Company), Invenias Ltd (High Growth Tech Business) were runners up in the respective categories.


Limbick Labs (Tech Start-Up), Fiscaltec Group (Emerging Tech Company), ESP Global Services and In Cloud Solutions (High Growth Tech Business Category), NVM’s investment into Contego Fraud Solutions and Netcompany’s acquisition of Hunter Macdonald (Tech Deal of the Year)  and Volume (Thames Valley Tech Company) all received high commendations in their respective categories.

Reading is home to tech giants such as Microsoft, Oracle, Fujitsu, Huawei and Cisco but as these awards show it also boasts an abundance of innovative start-ups and smaller companies. The success of Reading based companies in the inaugural Thames Valley Tech Awards showcases the fantastic opportunities and projects taking place in town’s technological sector.

It highlights what an amazing place Reading is to establish and develop an innovative new tech start-up, or to develop your skills as an employee in the sector.
